Baton Auction

Since 2011, the Desert Symphony has held an auction during one of its regular performances with the aim of raising awareness and financial support for educational and outreach projects. The winner receives, in addition to a beautiful baton in an exquisite wooden case, several conducting lessons from our Music Director to prepare him or her for rehearsing with the orchestra and conducting them in a selection as part of one of the symphony’s regular concerts. They also enjoy the comfort of the Music Director’s parking space and dressing room, a pair of tickets to their performance, a DVD of their conducting “debut” and their picture and bio in the program book.

Some of the past winners have elected to “gift” the honor of conducting the orchestra to a family member or friend.
